Review: Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Posted on January 23, 2018

I’m an ultimate fan of the Maze Runner Series. I recently had the chance of attending a private screening of Death Cure thanks to Fox Puerto Rico. It took a while for this film to be officially released due to a life- threatening accident Dylan O’Brien (Thomas) suffered while filming in March 2016 which left him with a severe head injury. This terrible accident broke most of the right side of his face and gave him severe trauma to the brain, for which he underwent reconstructive surgery.

The Death Cure is the 3rd and final film of the series and it literally picks right where we left off after Teresa’s epic betrayal, who joined the WCKD organization to try to find a cure for the “Flare” disease that’s been wiping out the human population and turning them into zombies. My advice, if you haven’t seen the previous movies you should definitely watch them to understand the Death Cure because there’s no flashbacks or previews of the past.

The films storyline basically surrounds itself through lots of action as the crew pulls daring rescues of those captive by WCKD. All meanwhile Teresa (Thomas’s ex lover) is focused on finding a cure using Minho (Thomas’s BFF) as her main test subject.

There’s a lot of emotion in this film so get your tissues ready. The Death Cure overcame tons of obstacles and took a while to film but it was worth the wait. The film premieres on January 25th in Puerto Rico.
