2025 has been an incredibly challenging yet transformational year, and I’m sure many can relate. It tested me deeply, forcing me to confront unexpected challenges. I found myself in dark moments, dealing with profound loss, fears, heartache, and regrets, revealing many harsh realities. Yet, among the difficulties, I also discovered profound hope, glimpses of peace, and compassionate love from genuine people, reminding me life was worth holding onto.
This year taught me lessons beyond my imagination. Through its twists and turns, heartbreaks, and surprises, I gained insights about myself, life, and those around me. Some lessons were tough, leaving lasting marks, while others served as gentle reminders of hope and growth. Together, they taught me resilience, how to protect my heart, and the importance of moving forward, even when faced with seemingly difficult challenges.
Grief is a complicated journey, often complex and unpredictable, that demands time and patience without a defined timeline. One moment you may feel okay, and the next, something triggers the pain. The loss of my grandmother hit me hard, yet I recognized that I had been grieving for a while, especially regarding my father, which has been my greatest heartbreak. I was also dealing with the profound grief of betrayal and assault by a man I gave a opportunity too which only led me to trauma. Healing from grief comes in waves; there’s no need to rush it.
Prioritizing mental health became essential for me. This year, I finally sought therapy — something I should have done long ago. It took a near-suicidal moment and profound losses to motivate me to seek help. This decision is one I will never regret.
It’s okay not to have everything figured out; trusting in God is enough. I learned that when I stopped trying to control every detail and focused on prayer, my sense of peace grew, even amidst uncertainty. Life didn’t always unfold as I hoped, but leaning into faith helped me take things one day at a time.
Protecting my peace has become my guiding principle. If you don’t prioritize your well-being, no one else will. Not everyone around you has good intentions; some will drain your energy or cause harm. It’s crucial to know how much you’re willing to give and to whom. It’s natural to feel anger or sadness, but over time, learn to let go and be gentle with yourself. Don’t share too much to please others; people will believe what they want, and that’s their concern. Your primary mission is to guard your own heart.
Letting go is a form of self-respect. This year, I learned to release those who brought me pain and chaos instead of peace. I even distanced myself from individuals who caused more trouble than joy in my life. Not everyone and not everything is meant to last — people, past versions of ourselves, and even once-treasured dreams. Holding on too tightly can be painful and won’t allow space for new and better opportunities. Letting go is difficult, yes, but it opens up space for peace, clarity, and authenticity in your life.
Be kind to yourself. Growth is not linear, and healing involves complexities. You will stumble, but what matters is learning from those experiences, forgiving yourself, and trying again. Self-love is not selfish; it’s about recognizing your worth. It includes setting boundaries, protecting your energy, and allowing yourself grace. Being gentle with yourself is a sign of strength, not weakness, enabling you to create positive change.
God’s timing is always perfect. This year, I learned to be patient and trust in His plan. I’ve always been eager for immediate results, but I discovered that what feels like delay often serves as protection and preparation. Not everything I seek needs to manifest right away. I’m 40, single and don’t have children. In the past it would be something that would truly depress and stress me, but I’ve learned to embrace it and trust God. Now, I love being single and childless and know that there is a greater purpose for my life. The practice of waiting has taught me that timing is about growth, learning, and being ready to embrace what is truly meant for me.
Stop comparing yourself to others; nobody has it all figured out. It’s easy to look at social media and feel that everyone else has their lives in order, but behind the curated images are real struggles and imperfect moments. I used to be hard on myself, thinking I was a failure. Comparison only steals your peace. Instead, focus on your own path, acknowledge your growth, celebrate your successes, and draw inspiration without feeling diminished. Life is not a race, and no one’s life is as flawless as it appears online.
Reflecting on 2025, it will always be a pivotal year that has strengthened my resilience. I’ve accomplished so much and have grown in faith and as a person. For my New Year’s photos, I chose to wear a red dress, symbolizing not just my confidence as a 40-year-old woman, but also as represented in Chinese culture; happiness and prosperity — areas I aspire to thrive within in 2026.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported me, to those who cheered me on during this journey, to the new friends I’ve met. My mission has always been to inspire and encourage others, sharing a message of love and hope through faith and I will continue to do so through my platform.
As we step into 2026, my prayer for each of you is that the coming year brings hope, strength, and joy. May you remain fearless, continue to believe, and never give up, no matter the challenges that may arise.
Be Lovely, Be You
