Concealer Guide and Hacks

One of the things I hate more other than having permanent dark under eye circles is waking up to an unwelcome blemish on my face. That’s why I’m so thankful for concealers. Concealers save my life every time I have to struggle with hiding a problem area. Concealer is the number one beauty staple, which allows you to do so much with their endless hacks. They can be used to hide zits and dark circles, as well as highlight cheekbones or to contour your face.

Maybelline offers many economic concealer options, but the Age Rewind Neutralizer Concealer, Dream Lumi Radiant, Yellow Cover Stick, Green Cover Stick and Fit ME Concealer (Shade Café) are my top picks. If you want to know all my hacks and how I use each of these concealers check out the graphic I’ve created with  the details.

Seriously, I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. Lovely Chicas went from a fun hobby with a few posts every once in a while to a real growing blog, brand and business! Embracing Patriotic Fashion

Posted on

Bring on the BBQs and the firecrackers because I’ve got your dose of red, white and blue fashion for Independence Day.

Theme dressing for the 4th of July can be a bit tricky especially when you have to work with red, white, blue in addition to stars and stripes.

My trick in wearing patriotic attire is to style them accordingly by hinting at my American pride without going overboard.

This year I decided to keep my look cool and casual by channeling my inner country girl. Obviously, nothing says the Fourth of July like wearing an American flag blouse. Pairing denim shorts to a look is always my favorite option. Plus the shorts high-waisted silhouette worked perfectly with the blouse. For a truly all-American ensemble I wore my favorite chic cowgirl boots. I love how the boots add western-inspiration with the touch of some cowgirl flair.

If you want some more patriotic fashion inspiration you can check out my past posts here:

Happy Fourth July! Today we celebrate the land of the brave and the free, my home USA!

Queen of The Jungle Look & Tarzan Movie Tickets Giveaway

Posted on

The most epic and realistic Tarzan film premieres on June 30th in Puerto Rico. The Legend of Tarzan from Warner Bros. Pictures stars Alexander Skarsgård as Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane. The Legend of Tarzan presents a whole new take on the century-old story. It shows a grown up man once known as Tarzan who has left behind the jungles of Africa and is now living a civilized life as John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane. He is invited back to the jungle to serve as a trade emissary only to find finding dark deeds afoot and rediscovering his savage side in a fight to save the wild land he loves.

In honor of this long awaited movie premiere I’ve created an outfit inspired by Tarzan. Tarzan is famously known for the brown loincloth, which is his fashion statement. Since people don’t usually walk around in a loincloth, to channel this look, I chose a simple brown suede frindged dress. To accessorize, I added a cork crossbody bag, snake earings and a cute pair of feathered lace-up sandals.

My makeup and manicure is inspired by the jungle, Tarzans true home. The makeup and nail polish used to create my wild look is by Flormar Makeup located in Plaza Del Sol in Bayamon Puerto Rico. I was completely inspired to feminize Tarzans look by simply adding girly and chic accents.

Now onto the good stuff, thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures and Flormar Makeup one lucky subscriber will have the chance to win movie tickets to the premiere of The Legend of Tarzan on Wednesday June 29th. In addition to the tickets the winner will receive some special goodies from Flormar Makeup. To enter this giveaway checkout my facebook page for more details.

My LBD Bestie

Posted on

I think of my Little Black Dress (LBD) as my BFF. It’s always there for me and never fails me. With my LBD I don’t worry about what to wear to those many events I attend. “I have nothing to wear!” freakouts are none existent when you have a Little Black Dress to count on. It’s super simple to create an entire outfit around your favorite LBD because of the versatility. LBD’s are like a blank canvas for accessorizing. Pairing it with heels converts it to a fancy look or opt for flat shoes which makes it perfect for a casual girls night.

The sophisticated, sexy, body-hugging LBD I’m wearing happens to be my favorite. It’s perfect for classy soirees or a date night.

How do you style your favorite Little Black Dress?

Road Trip

Posted on

Yay! Summer has officially begun! Truth be told, it’s actually summertime all year round in Puerto Rico.

Last week one of my childhood besties came to visit me from New York. We had a blast together and a much needed “girlcation” (Girls Only Vacation). Our main goal besides touring the hottest spots in Puerto Rico was to distress. So, we began by visiting Mar Chiquita Beach in Manati. After, we visited the Coamo Thermal Hot Springs. These springs are one of Puerto Rico’s natural wonders. By any chance if you’re wondering, the spring’s hot water is created by a dormant volcano under the ground, which still contains hot magma. Water from Coamo’s river finds its way to the magma and mixes with its natural minerals creating sulfurous water, which is than filtered out to the surface. Amazing right?! I was definitely blown away. After I bathed in the thermal pool my skin felt so soft and healthy. Our last official stop was at Cabo Rojo but on our way we visited La Frutera in Mayaguez where we enjoyed a delicious Green Juice. Afterwards, we continued our journey towards Cabo Rojo’s Lighthouse. Now, Los Morillos Lighthouse (El Faro) is a very historical site and one of the top places to visit in Puerto Rico. As you will see in the pictures on my trip to Cabo Rojo I opted for a comfy look with a white t-shirt , white shorts and G.H Bass & CO. sneakers from La Defensa.

I love interior tourism and road trips because there are so many beautiful sites in Puerto Rico. You probably won’t believe me but I’d lived in PR for more than 10 years and I had never been to any of the spots I visited on my mini girlcation. Yes, I know, shame on me. Experiencing so much beauty left me in awe. Puerto Rico may be a small island but it has so much to offer.
