It’s been a long time coming for this post. I’ve been successfully blogging for more than three years. During my time as a blogger I’ve been asked tons of questions surrounding my personal life and blogging. So, I created this “Get To Know Me” post so you can get the scoop on my personal life including my most embarrassing moment, my favorites, what makes me cry and my pet peeves. In addition I’ve answered a few of the blogging questions I get asked the most.
GET TO KNOW ME:
Where do you live? For the past 10 years I’ve been residing in “La Isla Del Encanto” Puerto Rico but I was born and raised in Rockland County, New York.
What is your favorite drink? Lipton Ice Tea or fresh lemonade
What is your favorite song at the moment? Coldplay-Adventure Of A Lifetime & Evan Craft- Solo En Ti
What is your favorite food? Puerto Rican & Italian food
Favorite book of all time? I love to read and have many favorites but here are a few- Pride & Prejudice, Twilight, Eat Prey Love
Favorite movie? Love Rosie and Pride & Prejudice (With Keira Knightly)
Favorite TV shows? There are so many shows I love. This list can go on forever….Pretty Little Liars, Arrow, Baby Daddy….. I’m also hooked on the Turkish TV series Fatmagul.
Favorite Perfumes? Light Blue Dolce & Gabbana, Lancôme La Vie Est Belle & Ralph Lauren “Ralph”
How would your friends describe you? Friendly, sweet, intelligent, responsible, kind, talented, sincere, guffy, bubbly, perseverant, ambitious, helpful and caring (I literally asked them lol).
Are you a morning person? I’m definitely not a morning person. I just can’t function that well in the morning. When my alarm rings I constantly press the snooze button like 10 times. I can easily wake up at 11 or noon. Forget breakfast, I’m a brunch kind of girl.
How do you drink your coffee? When I’m out running errands I stop by Starbucks for a Caramal Macchiato or a Pumpkin Spice Latte. My at home everyday coffee is a mixture of Yaucono coffee with a touch of almond milk, Coffee-Mate French Vanilla Coffee Creamer and Jordan’s Gourment Vanilla Syrup. When I mix the vanilla syrup into my coffee there is no need for sugar but if I have no syrup available I add 3 spoons of brown sugar.
Do you have any siblings? Yes, a younger sister.
What do you do to relax? Lay on my bed and watch Netflix or YouTube videos.
Do you believe in Love at first sight? Love is a pretty strong word to say. I believe you can have an immediate attraction. You have to get know a person well before you LOVE someone.
What makes you cry? Something only those really close to me know and now many of you will be aware of is that I live with an aunt with dementia who I take care of. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia can be a bit overwhelming and challenging. You can check here to learn more here about Alzheimer’s. Crying has become part of my everyday lifestyle because it’s the only way I can relieve the stress. Seeing my aunt’s condition is so painful. Comparing who she was and who she is today tears my heart. She is a completely different person. Alzheimer’s or dementia completely destroys the person and the caregiver’s piece of mind. No body can understand how painful it is to see the brain of someone you care for slowly die. My Grandmother and uncle passed away from Alzheimer’s. Besides the aunt I care for her two sisters have Alzheimer’s as well. This disease is like a horrible and traumatizing plague that has hit my family. It’s the worst way to watch some you care about deteriorate into someone unknown.
What are two pet peeves? I have ton’s of pet peeves but here’s a few.
- I HATE seeing litter thrown on the ground! Some people need to learn to throw their litter in a damn trashcan.
- When I have to pee really badly and there is nowhere to hang my purse in a public bathroom. First of all I don’t sit on public bathroom toilets, I squat! I’ve mastered the art a peeing, squatting and holding my purse at the same time. Than to find out there’s no toilet paper (This being the reason I always carry tissue in my bag). Guys have no idea how easy they have it. Hire bathroom services from here, as they serve all of Vancouver and you can book them from here!
- People who talk very loud and make noise for everyone in the town to hear ( my neighbors).
- When I’m eating at a restaurant and the table is wobbly.
- People who make noise or talk at the movie theater.
Are you an introvert o an extrovert? This depends. I think I’m a bit of both. When I’m around people I don’t know I’m an introvert. I’ve never been the center of attention kind of girl. At events I don’t know anyone I tend to keep to myself, I’m a bit shy. But on the other hand if I’m around people I’m comfortable with and know I’m VERY extrovert.
Embarrassing Moment: My most embarrassing moment was during a modeling competition. For the last runway, I was going to strut my stuff in a black gown but one of the events directors had a last minute change and preferred I walk the runway in a beautiful fuschia dress. The gown was breathtaking and gorgeous but it had a huge slit I the middle. As I confidently walked the runway I noticed a few people with weird looks on their faces. When I arrived backstage I was notified that I had flashed everyone. Yes, everyone in the crowd saw my panties. Funny thing is that I still made it to the top finalist and unfortunately I also have picture memories of that awkward moment.
How tall are you? I’m a petite gal measuring 5’1
I can’t start my day without: Looking at my phone to check messages, missed calls and my social media.
Must have piece of clothing: skinny jeans
Describe your style in 3 words: This question is a bit of a struggle because I don’t like to describe my fashion style with words style reflects your personality, mood, and interest. If I had to choose words I would say feminine, classic and laid back.
Style Icon: Vanessa Hudgens and Lauren Conrad
Best childhood memory: Sled riding in the snow and building snowmen with my little sister in New York.
Favorite bloggers and Vloggers: Sazan Hendrix, Vivaluxery, Bethany Mota & Yuya
Favorite quote: “Don’t limit Yourself”
What advice can you give to those who want to begin blogging: There is a lot more to blogging than just posting pictures. There is a whole production behind blogging. If you’re looking for immediate success this shouldn’t be your top choice. There is also no exact or perfect formula to follow. Research, learn and create your own way. Plan your post ahead and be organized. Create fun, unique quality content. Be perseverant and patient because success is a marathon, not a sprint. The most important advice I can give is to be yourself.
Why did you start your blog? I use to do a bit of modeling. One time I had an experience that changed me. During a photoshoot the fashion designer wasn’t happy with my breast size. She argued they where to small and made me fill my bra. When the photographer saw my “huge fake filled boobs” he was furious. He said that I was perfect the way I was and he even argued with the designer about her stupidity. Getting onto the point, this hadn’t been the only experience where people tried to make me feel worthless and I was tired of it. I have always loved fashion and all I wanted was a place where I could be myself and express my style. Lovely Chicas wasn’t just created for me but for every girl who has been told she is not good enough. We are perfect the way we are. Love yourself and don’t be afraid to be who you are or go after your dreams because we are all beautiful and capable of conquering anything. BE YOU, BE LOVELY!
