Urban Decay recently held it’s re-launch Party at “La Factoria” which is Puerto Rico’s hottest spot and one of the best bars in the world. As an official brand ambassador I was one of the exclusive attendees of this trendy event.
The events dress code was “Beauty With an Edge” and to me nothing could be more edgy than a leather dress.
The Crosshatch Leatherette Dress I decided to wear is from A’GACI and it has officially become my favorite little black dress. To make a sexier statement I created a fierce makeup look with Urban Decay’s Naked Smokey Palette, Vice Lipstick in the Shade “Wrong Number” and the bronzer/highlighter/blush trio Naked Flushed.

As usual Urban Decay outdoes itself presenting fabulous packaging. The Full Spectrum Palette features a gorgeous black packaging detailed with a rainbow hued UD Jewel. I had a lot of fun creating my UD look with this palette. My look is very simple compared to all of the outrageous creations that can be made but it represents who I am.

“With great power comes great responsibility.” Yes, I just quoted Ben Parker from Spiderman because it couldn’t be far from the truth. Though I may be no superhero I cherish the influence I have achieved as a blogger. If there is anyway I want to
influence my followers its to do positive deeds and help others in need. That’s why I began “Lazos de Amor” an initiative that has united influencers to make a positive difference in Puerto Rico.
This past weekend a few of Puerto Rico’s best influencers visited the children’s shelter “Hogar Cuna San Cristobal”. This shelter cares for children within the ages of months to 8 years. Each child has suffered through a traumatic and abusive experience. Children are the most precious and innocent beings. It completely disgusts me that people who abuse and abandon them exist.
During our visit, we played with these little angels and provided them many with gifts. The children’s smiles and laughter were priceless.
If I could spend my life making others happy through their pain and struggles I’d say I’ve accomplished my life’s mission. There is no greater satisfaction then helping others especially children. We all go through hard situations and if I were to describe the difficult situations I’m currently living through you probably wouldn’t believe me. I’ve made a promise to myself that nothing would fade my smile. The truth is that no matter what we go through there are others struggling through worse.
I want to thank all of the bloggers and influencers who helped and participated in this special initiative. I also want to thank Walmart, 20th Century Fox (Trolls), Banana Boat Kids, and Dulzura Borincana for providing their donations. Below I’ve left pictures of this incredible experience including the Walmart Shopping spree with La Shoppinista Stephanie Li where we bought many donations for the children. Stay posted for the next event because there are many more to come!
October is breast cancer awareness month. So, my mission this month is to educate about the disease and to help support survivors. Many of my loved ones have suffered from breast cancer so it’s very important to spread awareness concerning this matter. Sadly here inside my circle, cancer has taken the life of many close to me. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Survival of this disease depends on early prevention and detection.
Early prevention is very important to me and one of the causes of breast cancer is aluminum-based antiperspirants or deodorants. For this reason I have completely eliminated those types of deodorants from my life. I made the choice to use natural organic based deodorants and my top favorite brand is Schmidt’s.
I’ve tried many natural deodorants and none worked. Finding the right natural deodorant was a difficult task for me. Everyone I tried left me smelling worse than not using any at all. When I tried Schmidt’s natural deodorant I was completely amazed because it actually worked! These deodorants literally eliminate and prevent bad odor while other brands I’ve tried where a complete waste of my money. Schmidt’s deodorants are natural, vegan and animal cruelty free. The best part is that these deodorants are also 100% free of aluminum, parabens, phalates and gluten, which is beneficial to prevent breast cancer.
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant offers a grand variety of scents but my top two favorites are Bergamot + Lime and Lavender + Sage. They smell so good and fresh!
If you want to begin breast cancer prevention with the use of a natural deodorant I highly recommend Schmidt’s. You can learn more about the brand at https://schmidtsdeodorant.com/
Because my followers and readers are so important to me one lady will have the opportunity to win Schmidt’s Geranium Deodorant for sensitive skin and a guy will be able to win the Cedarwood+Juniper Deodorant. For the giveaway participation rules checkout my Instagram and facebook.

Though we may not like to admit it sometimes we tend to give too much importance to the amount of followers and likes we have on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Though my blog receives tons of views; I have never been too impressed with my social media numbers. My opinion was recently changed when I met a follower who asked me, “Is being a blogger easy and how did you get so many followers on your social media?” In all honesty I was shocked because I have always compared myself to bloggers with 200,000+ followers. I’ve been blogging for years and in the process I’ve been through just about anything a Blogger can face. My answer to her was pretty simple, “Being a blogger takes passion, persistence, dedication and lot’s of creativity”.
That night I couldn’t sleep. My brain just wouldn’t stop working. I’m always in my head….I’m either over analyzing, overthinking or creating. For some reason this girls amazement over my following had me thinking deeply. Are numbers really important? Are we really defined by how many followers we have? NO, numbers do not define us but for some reason people make such a bigger deal about it.
I personally know so many bloggers with a low following but their work and creativity is amazing. Meanwhile, I find no amusement in the content of some bloggers who have a huge number of followers. Quality always wins over quantity.
When it comes to social media I now have a new perspective that all bloggers should recognize as well; Social Media numbers or likes do not define you. I, Charlene Gonzalez, creator of Lovely Chicas want to be known for more than just my social media numbers. Being known for my heart, authenticity, honesty, good will and kindness is much more important to me. In addition, all bloggers need to understand that the quality, creativity and dedication you invest are worth much more than any number. Love what you do and be proud of your accomplishments no matter how minimal they may seem. I wish all influencers, bloggers and Vloggers would feel the same. This isn’t a competition. Just be passionate and you will accomplish far more than you dreamed. Forget about the numbers, work hard and pursue your goals.
In the process of my blogging career you have all come to know personal aspects of my life. So, in this post I wanted to honor my authenticity though I won’t share too much detail. There have been a few changes in my life these pasts few months. Life is full of surprises. Trust me, I could write a kick-ass book series with all of my experiences. Sometimes these certain situations may leave you feeling crushed and sucker-punched but the outcome of anything you face is truly up to you. Though everything inside me just wanted to give up and break down, I continued to fake a smile until I finally had to accept the reality…some things are just not meant to be. Sometimes the truth hurts much more than a lie.
Within the options available, you can either submerge into depression and anger or get up and move on. I chose to get up and move on. Life is what you make of it. Nothing should stand in the way of your goals and happiness. I’ve chosen to make the most of every moment holding on to my faith because through everything God has been my strength. Besides, everything in life happens for a greater purpose.
Mixing fashion with life, the outfit in this post definitely defines how I’m taking on life. I’m just living every moment to the fullest, carefree and embracing happiness. Being happy is a choice YOU have to make.
The Look: Both sporty and sexy, bomber jackets are a great way to dress down and add edge to a look. Mixing and clashing styles I wore denim shorts and my fav combat boots to complete my bomber jacket street-style look. As for accessories, I opted to wear a simple but chic choker. I feel ready to conquer the world with this outfit!
Now, for any of you who are dealing with any difficult situation I just want to remind you that everything will be ok. What truly matters is how we deal with these struggles and difficulties when they face us. The truth is that “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. Chose to be happy, put on your favorite outfit and conquer the world.
