Birthday Soiree

Since celebrating 30 years of age is kind of a big deal I pondered on having a big party but decided against it rather opting for a more intimate gathering with friends. The mini soiree took place at Hotel Verdanza’s Burger Bar where a private area was separated for my guest and I. Hotel Verdanza’s E-Commerce Executive Antonio Lozada had the area decorated plus a delicious almond birthday cake just for me. I had an incredible time full of laughter and of course great food (The Jalapeño Poppers are beyond incredible). It was wonderful being able to spend time with so many special people on my birthday.

The 30 Things I’ve Learned In 30 Years

Happy Birthday to me! Today I’m celebrating a new decade, the big 3-0! I’ve decided that the best way to celebrate is by sharing all the wisdom I’ve acquired these past years. I also wanted to accompany this post with a very special photoshoot embracing my new age in a sexy, confident & empowering way. My life has been a series of educational events which have made me the strong and courageous woman I am today. These are a few life lessons I wish I knew when I was younger and want to share with you all.

  1. It always gets better. Even though I’ve been through some very rough times in my 30 years of life, I have learned that frustration, suffering, anger, pain, and struggles always get better. It just takes a bit of time. Remember that every day is a new day to begin again.
  2. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Get to know a person before you decide what you think about them. Give people a chance.
  3. You can’t please everyone. Live life for yourself. You don’t need everyone to agree with you or even like you. Wanting to belong, to be liked, respected and valued is in our human nature but it should never come at the expense of your integrity and happiness.
  4. You don’t always get what you want. No matter how carefully you plan things out sometimes things don’t work out as you expect. Life is full of surprises and we get led in different directions. We have so many expectations and visions of what our “ideal” life is but you have to accept things the way they are and try a new path.
  1. Money doesn’t grow on trees. Believe me I’ve learned this the hard way. Don’t spend more than you have. Live within your means because budgeting is one of the most important parts of life. SAVE MONEY, plan ahead for emergencies. Financial discipline will save you from difficult moments.
  2. Every decision you make has a consequence. You’re decisions may bring you either good or bad results. Life is all about making decisions. Follow your heart and analyze every detail before making a hasty decision.
  3. Love Yourself. Personally I wasted so much of my teenage years and early twenties with many insecurities. Appreciate who you are. You are beautiful. You will find true happiness when you push past your insecurities, accept and love yourself completely.
  4. Smile more often. Your smile is your best accessory. Fill your life and the world around you with your happiness.
  5. You can accomplish anything you want. But you have to work really hard for it. Be persistent and don’t give up.
  6. Choose your friends wisely. I personally have VERY few friends. Past betrayals have thought me to be careful with the people I let close. Though I may have few friends they are worth gold.
  7. Exercise. This is something I have always struggled with. Believe me my 30 year old body hates me for putting out on its physical needs. Now I understand the importance of exercise.
  8. Relationships will fail, your heart will be broken but it’s not the end of the world. You may drown yourself in tears and think life is over. Trust me I’ve been in some pretty horrible relationships. I’ve even been cheated on. My heart has been torn and crushed but I’m alive. If you loose yourself in a relationship or aren’t appreciated move on. Sooner or later you will find someone who truly loves and values you.
  9. Mistakes are lessons learned. Don’t live your life regretting your mistakes. Learn from them. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes either, they make you stronger and smarter.
  10. Don’t believe everything you hear. Gullible, use to be my middle name until I gained a bit of malice. Not everyone is honest.
  11. Try new things. Step out of your comfort zone. Commit yourself to new experiences and adventures. Enjoy everything life has to offer. Have fun!
  12. Face your fears. Fear is the greatest obstacle blocking the way towards our dreams. Amazing things happen when you face you fears.
  13. Live in the moment. Live within the now by making the most of your moments only to create great and unforgettable memories.
  14. Relax. Life gets very busy and you don’t want to become stressed or anxious. It’s very important to find time for yourself and do something that brings you peace and tranquility.
  15. Visit your doctor. Aches and pains are indicators of something. A regular visit to the doctor can save your life. This really means something coming from someone who hates visiting the doctor’s office.
  16. Never say never. Don’t live under that false pretense. Everything is possible.
  17. Love is a choice. Those butterflies in your stomach don’t last forever. Love is not only a feeling but also a choice. Relationships take a lot of work. We have to be tolerant, kind, loving, forgiving, respectful, supportive and just let annoyances pass. No one is perfect, Mr. & Mrs. Perfect don’t exist.
  18. Enjoy your youth. Once you get older you’ll want to be a teenager again so live your young years to the fullest but wisely.
  19. Skin care and hygiene is everything! Take care of your skin, hair, face, teeth (check  this post for dental services), nails and your total body.
  20. Be positive. Our thoughts influence every aspect in life. Having a positive mindset brings positive outcomes. Positive thinking and success go hand in hand.
  21. Be encouragement to others. Saying encouragement words and giving hope to others can change their lives.
  22. God first. Put God 1st before anything and everything else will fall into place. Through any situation place your faith in God. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”-Philippians 4:13
  23. Forgive. You will disappoint yourself. Others will disappoint you. Forgiving frees and liberates you. Resentment and grudges cause you unnecessary pain. Forgive and let go for your own wellbeing and happiness.
  24. Love always wins. Revenge is never the answer. Kill those who hurt you with kindness. When you show love to someone who doesn’t deserve it you win the battle.
  25. Don’t take anything for granted. We tend not to appreciate what we have until it’s gone: this includes health, your family and friends, your job and money. Nothingin your life is guaranteed to be there tomorrow, including those you love. This being the hardest but most important lesson to learn. Life can change in an instant. Make sure you appreciate what you have, while you still have it.
  26. You are still young at 30. There is so much more to fulfill and learn in life, many experiences and adventures to enjoy and tons of goals to accomplish. 30 mean’s I’m wiser and stronger. I’m ready to conquer the world and a whole new decade.

December Love: Holiday Look

First and foremost, let’s celebrate the arrival of the best month of the year, December! December brings so many amazing celebrations including my birthday and Christmas. In honor of December I thought it was only appropriate to bring out the fur!

You don’t need to be a millionaire to appreciate the qualities of fur pieces. I’m not a supporter of the slaughter of innocent animals for fashion so I only wear faux fur. My outfit offers a mix of classic and cool, from a cute plaid shirt, to the on-trend faux fur vest, to the classic never-ever-goes-out-of-style bell bottom jeans. This chic look creates an interesting mix of textures. For an extra touch of elegance I added a statement necklace. This effortless chic outfit is perfect for casual winter soirees.

Puerto Rico’s Influencers Unite To Give Love

With the holidays approaching many forget the true meaning of the season. People are to busy running from store to store in search of the perfect gift to give a loved one or friend. Meanwhile children have begun creating their extensive wish list. This brings me to a whole different scenario leading to those less fortunate children who’d be more than happy to spend time with their family this holiday season instead of receiving a gift.

One of the greatest problems our children suffer in society roots from abuse and neglect.   Due to these unfortunate circumstances many children have been separated from their families.

For this reason I decided it was time to make a positive change so I united a few of Puerto Rico’s top influencers in support of the children’s shelter El Hogar Niñito Jesús to celebrate the activity “Ribbons of Love”. This shelter is a safe haven for child survivors of abuse, neglect and abandonment. This home restores their innocence providing an environment of love and moral. As influencers we united to provide the children with a fun and joyful experience. There is such a great power that comes from unity and together we brought donations, gifts and lots of love to these beautiful children. Words cannot describe the joy I felt in my heart watching the smiles on their little faces as we sang and played. Their happiness was the best gift I could ever receive.

With all my heart I want to thank all the amazing influencers and brands who united to make this special activity a reality; Kokoloom, Curvy It Girl, Piccolo Mondo PR, Tatito Tales, La Mafia PR, Ultranimator, Gabilon, Yanira Gisselle, Edgar Rene, IYN Beauty Reviews, Kaisa Kiasa, Verdanza Hotel and Johnson & Johnson.

This holiday season I urge all of my readers and followers not to get caught up with the buzz and remember the true meaning of Christmas is love so give more love this season. Remember as you enjoy your gifts and gourmet meals others don’t have the same privileges. Make a difference by giving to those in need. Let’s begin an endless chain of love. In a world where hatred, intolerance and pain exist remember love is our strongest weapon. The simplest act of kindness can make the greatest difference.

xoxo Be you, Be Lovely

Hello Holidays!

With my peppermint hot chocolate in hand as I enjoy the sounds of Christmas songs while I watch the twinkling decorative lights and breath in the refreshing scent of pine in the air there’s no doubt I have an overload of Christmas spirit. I LOVE the holidays and the earlier I begin to celebrate the happier I am.

Tis’ the season to be jolly and of course wear one of my new favorite items of clothing, the sweater dress. The sweater dress is a very versatile piece that can be worn in so many different ways. They aren’t just cozy and comfortable but they also happen to flatter the figure which is a major bonus. For my look I was aiming to achieve a chic & sophisticated look so I combined my sweater dress with a pair of high heeled boots.

Lately I’ve been very obsessed with my Mark by Avon Neutral Territory bag. I’ve been wearing it non-stop with every outfit. This bag defines perfection not only does its neutral color combine with any look but its spacious and well divided compartments allow everything the fit perfectly.

No Holiday look could ever be complete without the dazzling touch of jewelry from the Trollbeads Holiday Collection.  One of the things I miss the most about living in New York is most definitely the white shimmering snow this winter season brings. As a child and teen sled rides, snowball fights and building Frosty the Snowman were the highlight of my winters.  Thanks to Trollbeads Snowflake earrings and Winter Heart bracelet my white Christmas has arrived directly to Puerto Rico.

Talking about the holiday collection on another fun and exciting note this Saturday, November 21st I’ll be hosting as a guest stylist Trollbeads Holiday Wish List Event. Be sure to visit Trollbeads Puerto Rico located in the Route 66 Oulet Mall in Canovanas from 1PM-4PM. There will be giveaways and may surprises! To reserve your spot or for more information just call (787) 876-7330.
