Conquering Autism with SURF 4 DEM

One thing I’ve always strongly believed in is that children with autism are a blessing.

Autism is defined as a group of developmental disabilities that cause behavioral, social and communicational problems. Although it is one of the largest disabilities that affect children, diagnosing autism is very difficult. Autism affects in different ways and degrees. I’ve had the blessed opportunity to work with autistic children. Each one is unique, demonstrating their own range of behaviors and symptoms. I love working with autistic children; they are incredible angels. I can be having a difficult day but a little hug or an “I love you” from them changes everything completely.  Children with autism are brilliant we just need to understand their minds work differently than ours.

Autism is a lifelong developmental challenge many do not understand. Families with autistic children need lots of strength and support. For this reason I’m uniting with Surf 4 DEM to be a part of something big and life changing.

Surf 4 Dem is a foundation that offers autistic children therapeutic services through surfing. On Saturday, April 18th  we’ll be celebrating a festival at Jobos Beach in Isabella Puerto Rico where music, games, surfing therapy, autism orientations and much more will be offered.

Join me along with beauty queen Denise Quiñones, model and TV host Jaime Mayol to spread the love for autistic children.

San Juan Moda 2015: Carlos Alberto

Top designer Carlos Alberto also presented at San Juan Moda’s fall-winter edition and I was there to witness all of the glamour from his new collection Frenesi. For his presentation Carlos Alberto united forces with the Wilnelia Merced Forsyth Foundation.  The cute and adorable little girls who formed part of the models were definitely the highlight of the night. I’m a huge sucker for kids and they brightened the show with joy. In this new glamorous collection by Carlos the colors red, black, gold and silver dominated the runway with glittery sequins and fabrics. Take a look below at the special moments I lived that night during the show.

Opening Of The Mall Of San Juan

A new mall has been established in Puerto Rico and I obviously couldn’t miss the big opening event. The Mall Of San Juan is luxurious and beautiful two level mall which features stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Pandora, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade NY, Victorias Secret, Bath & Body Works and many more. I’m personally excited that Hollister will also open there very soon as well (The 1st Hollister to arrive in Puerto Rico!).  On their opening day Saks Fifth Avenue invited me to meet someone very special.  I had the great honor to meet fashion icon and designer Diane Von Furstenberg. Yes, I almost fainted!

Meanwhile on the weekend of the opening, Nordstrom invited me to be a part of Sarah Jessica Parkers special appearance. I adore Sarah and just witnessing how sweet she was with everyone proved how great of a person she is.

The opening week of The Mall of San Juan was super fun to experience.

San Juan Moda 2015: Lisa Thon

Chica’s this is officially my last San Juan Moda 2015 fall-winter post! On the final night of SJM various shows were presented but due to prior commitments with other events (Macy’s) I could only view one show which was “Forest Thorns” by Lisa Thon.  By far this show was amazing; each look was inspired by bohemian-hippie vibes. Natalia Rivera and Nicole Chacon, Puerto Rican celebs were part of the main attraction on the runway. I’m very happy to have enjoyed this last show with some incredible Puerto Rican bloggers thanks to Hawaiian Tropic. Check out the pictures, so you can witness for yourself all of the fun I had.

San Juan Moda 2015: Ecliptica & Hard Rock

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring break and Easter. Today I’ll finally be presenting more details and pictures from San Juan Moda’s shows. I’ve been such a horrible blogger lately, I have a few post behind. Sorry, I took this spring break seriously. There were so many things I wanted to accomplish but I was mentally exhausted and needed a time out. BUT I’m back and have lots of great things coming up.

As I pointed out on my previous San Juan Moda post, Hawaiian Tropic hosted my VIP invitation to the shows. On the second day of San Juan Moda I enjoyed amazing runways by Ecliptica and Hard Rock Café.

Ecipltica’s fall-winter collection “Vasilisa” was completely charming and beyond lovely. Norein and Michelle Otero; sisters and designers of Ecliptica have such an incredibly creative talent. I adored their collection.

I’m very happy to announce that Hard Rock Café will once again open its doors in San Juan Puerto Rico. Consequently, they also formed part of SJ Moda presenting “House of Hard Rock” which united their rocking top designers,  House of Haggerty & NOXIUS.   This presentation opened with a performance by Siete, who rocked out on the guitar. 2006 Americas Next Top Model, CariDee English, was the star model of the night and she completely owned the runway.

Below you can enjoy my favorite moments from the night. I’ll be uploading the rest of San Juan Moda’s shows briefly.
